Handsewn Mask Need Expands

We were initially contacted to provide handsewn masks for the Froedtert Healthcare system.  Now Advocate Aurora Healthcare is using hand sewn masks as well.  Having cloth masks available is part of an effort to maintain the safest conditions for both patients and workers.  We are still asking you to follow the pattern provided by Froedtert at this time.  Masks may be dropped off at the Woldt parsonage front porch for distribution.  Contact Betsy Woldt (elizawo23@hotmail.com) with any questions.

Handsewn Mask Update

Last week the call for handsewn protective masks went out.  Masks were to be assembled using the specific instructions posted by Froedtert hospital system.  Betsy Woldt is coordinating the efforts to produce and deliver the masks to Froedtert.  As of Sunday afternoon, 88 handsewn masks had appeared on the Woldt parsonage porch.  More are coming.  One of our members asked a local Walmart if they could help in the effort.  The Walmart store manager donated $100 worth of cloth and offered a 50% discount on any other purchases she made related to the project.  The link to the instruction is repeated below.  Contact Betsy Woldt (elizawo23@hotmail.com) with any questions.

Request for Handsewn Masks

Leah Alair, a nurse in the Froedtert system, wife of seminary student Eric Alair, mother of two, and frequent visitor at David’s Star sent this request to the pastors:

I'm contacting you to see if there may be any individuals or any group within the church and school who would be interested in sewing masks for healthcare workers. There is a worldwide shortage of various protective equipment, but this item is particularly critical right now. My organization, Froedtert, has just posted a sewing pattern and donation instructions for anyone who is willing to help in this way.

A few David’s Star members have already begun sewing protective masks following the instructions provided in the link. If you are interested in this project, please contact Betsy Woldt (elizawo23@hotmail.com).  Betsy is willing to facilitate collection and delivery of any masks produced by our members.  (You can drop them off on the front porch of the Woldt parsonage.)  Please follow the instructions on the link, so the masks produced give the best possible protection to healthcare workers who might have to use them.
